My friend Michelle enjoys to throw big parties, with plenty of food and a lot of buddies. I believe it should be the big Italian family thing, one is never at a loss for food or great company at her house.
Among my preferred dishes that typically makes an appearance at Michelle's is this "cheesy bread", a sort of cross between garlic bread and pizza. It's a fantastic method to assist feed a great deal of hungry individuals, and simple to gather, even at the last minute.
Cheesy Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 oz shredded Mozzarella cheese (1 cup).
- 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese (about 2 cups).
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped green onion (to taste).
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise.
- 1 Tbsp sour cream (optional).
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced.
- 1/2 stick saltless butter (1/4 cup, 2 ounces), softened to the point of being somewhat melted.
- 1 loaf of French or Italian bread (I used Ciabatta).
Method
In a large bowl, mix together the cheeses and the green onion. Stir in the mayo and sour cream. In a separate small bowl mix the butter and garlic till smooth. Add the butter mixture to the cheese mixture.Preheat broiler. Slice loaf of bread in half horizontally, lay crust side down on a foil-lined baking sheet. Spread cheese mixture over the bread.
Place under the broiler up until well browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove from broiler and let sit for 5 minutes until cool enough to deal with. Slice the bread with a bread knife. Serve.
Variations:.
Attempt mixing in other active ingredients with the topping mixture, such as sliced black olives, sliced canned artichoke hearts, minced shrimp, or crab meat.
